It has been quite an adventure to get here. To be honest, I can't say that journey here was anything like what my brother and I had imagined when we decided to start a custom shirt company. We met with numerous fabric mills and clothing manufacturers from all over the world before we truly started to understand what would be required to achieve the Proper and Key brand we envisioned.

We did not want to create a place that just sold shirts that we liked, shirts that we thought were the best looking or that we would wear. My brother and I both felt like there were so many of these companies already out there. What we wanted was a place where someone could create shirts that looked and fit the way they wanted them to, not the way someone else wanted them to. Most people settle for clothing that is something close to their style. We designed the process of creating a shirt at Proper and Key specifically to give people the freedom to have their own style, not to settle for the next best thing.

We want to make shirts for the formal events or the office, shirts for the night out or the three-day weekend, and even shirts for a trip to the mountains or the beach. You should be able to look the way you want, wherever you are, whatever the occasion.
